The meeting of the Orthodox Clergy Association of the Greater Toronto area

The Orthodox Clergy Association of the Greater Toronto area had its General Meeting on Monday June 5th, 2023.

The meeting took place at Panagia Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 136 Sorauren Ave. in Toronto.

The members of the clergy from that area (encompassing the territory from Oshawa to Oakville and north to Barrie, Ontario) attended the meeting. The clergy representing the Romanian Orthodox Diocese (Romanian Patriarchate) were Rev Fr. Emanuel Ionut Tencaliuc, dean of the All-Saints Romanian Orthodox Church in Toronto and Hieromonk Polycarp, hegumen of the Holy Cross Orthodox Monastery Mono and coordinator of the diocesan communication department.

Earlier in the morning the Divine Liturgy was celebrated.

Two important goals were set for the meeting: a) to re-constitute the executive body, and b) to confirm the rotation for the hosting of the Sunday of Orthodoxy Vespers for the coming years.

Two new suggested initiatives were discussed: a) to have a day retreat at the Holy Cross Orthodox Romanian Monastery and b) to have Lenten Vespers with a lecture afterwards on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Sundays of Lent, rotating churches and jurisdictions.

Fr. Bohdan Hladio, President of the Canonical Orthodox Clergy Association of the GTA thanked all the Bishops and Clergy for their continued support for the common initiatives. In addition, he added that now more than ever is a wonderful and important opportunity to show the unity as Orthodox Christians and to encourage the clergy fellowship.
