Night Vigil at Saint George the Great Martyr Episcopal Cathedral in Saint-Hubert, Quebec
The Feast of the "Beheading of the Holy Prophet John the Baptist" was marked in a unique way at the Episcopal Cathedral "Saint George the Great Martyr" in Saint-Hubert, Quebec. The faithful, present in large numbers, enjoyed the night vigil service, presided over by His Grace Ioan Casian.
The event started at 7:00 pm with the Vespers service with Litia and lasted until late at night, continuing with the Matins and the Divine Liturgy, during which a large part of those who were present also received the Holy Communion. At the end of the service, the bishop of the Romanians in the Canadian lands spoke about the life and message of the Holy Prophet John the Baptist, emphasizing the value of martyrdom which marked his entire teaching.
"Saint John the Baptist is not only the one who speaks about the end of time or only shows Christ. It is true that its central mission is to show Christ as the Son of God, the One who fulfills the times, the One who is the promise of God. But Saint John the Baptist is also a man concerned with the society of his time. A spiritual man, a faithful man, a man with verticality in faith cannot help but feel responsible for what happens around him, for everything that happens in society, more appropriate or less appropriate. This is what it really means to be a man upright in faith", emphasized the hierarch.
We praise God for the outpouring of grace that we have experienced during this blessed evening, and we give thanks to both chanters and the faithful who joined us in prayer. Praise God for everything!
