On the occasion of the celebration of the feast of Three Hierarchs, HG Bishop Ioan Casian was present St. George's Cathedral in Saint-Hubert. In his sermon, the hierarch spoke of the trinity of hierarchs as an example of full dedication to God and Church:
“The three Holy Hierarchs Basil, Gregory and John represent for the Church the most eloquent example of man's dedication with all his gifts to God. All three are born into wealthy families and through their learning preparation they will put into the service of God and the Church the gifts obtained by studying at the highest schools of their time. The three each one through the specific gifts will contribute to the clarification of the teaching of faith about the Holy Trinity. They form a unity in the confession of the true faith from which comes the good choices in the life of man that will lead him to salvation.”
The next day at the Divine Liturgy talking about the three saints the hierarch said:
“Two of them - St. Basil and St. John - will leave their mark on the most important sacrament of the Church, namely the Divine Liturgy. There are two Divine Liturgies that bear their names and each one in its own way contemplates the great mystery of redemption and salvation with different accents - one through the depth of the sight of God's work in the role it had in the ontological foundation of the world and the other through the pastoral care and the immediate simplicity of the words of prayer. St. Gregory is the one who by the sharpness of the mind and the genius of the word penetrates as much as is allowed to human reason the mystery of the One God in being but Three in Persons."
Fr. George Chiscă - dean was present also at the prayer. The responses at strana were given by the protopsaltis Valentin Botu.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, the hierarch of Canada blessed those present.
