On Saturday, November 9, the hierarchs celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Paris. In his homily H.G. Bishop Ioan Casian said:
By the incarnation and coming of Christ the Savior among us the sky of our thoughts, the sky of our souls, the sky of our being is no longer obscured by the work of the evil that has entered us through fall. In the Church we have a hope and we live a reality - that of our restoration through the Holy Sacraments - Baptism, Chrismation, Divine Liturgy and Communion and other religious services. The Church restores man's ability to return and have the gates open to the Kingdom of God. We are once again consecrated to the true God of the Holy Trinity, we are integrated into the secret work of the Holy Spirit through Chrismation and receive the true nourishment necessary for the journey to the Kingdom of God - that is Holy Communion - which makes us true pilgrims by grace and faith in this way.
We receive from God the mystery of the purification of our consciousness by the Sacraments through which we begin to become more and more like what we should be. We are more and more like the image of God planted in us at creation.
The angelic powers, Saints Archangels Michael and Gabriel, are our forerunners, Michael as a forerunner, a fighter for God's chosen people in the midst of his enemies, and Gabriel as the one who proclaim God's birth among us. The two archangels together with all the heavenly powers assure us of our ontological advance toward God.
In the afternoon, two conferences, occasioned by the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Diocese of Western Europe in Paris, dedicated to the life and activity of Metropolitan Visarion Puiu, its initiator, were held by Rev. Fr. Florin Țuscanu and by Adrian Petcu - scientific researcher. On this occasion in the lobby adjacent to the cathedral was inaugurated a photographic exhibition with a selection of correspondence Metropolitan Visarion had with the different personalities of his time.
The participation of H.G. Bishop Ioan Casian in the celebrations of the Romanian Orthodox Metropolia of Western and Southern Europe ended on Sunday, November 10, with the celebration of the Divine Liturgy at St. Paraschiva and St. Genoveva Parish of Paris.
