On June 22 and 23, 2019, All Saints Parish celebrated its feast day in an festive a joyful atmosphere in the presence of H.G. Ioan Casian, the Romanian Orthodox Bishop of Canada. Priests and believers from neighboring parishes added to this important moment.
The parish celebrates 20 years since its inception, being a young, growing parish that gathers all generations, young people of all ages in thought and mind who want to carry on faith, culture, language, tradition and ancestral customs.
The day began with the Holy Unction on Saturday evening. Sunday morning followed Matins, the Divine Liturgy and the agape meal. On the occasion of the feast, the faithful had the opportunity to worship the holy relics of St. Hierarchs Andrei Saguna, Nicholas of Mira Lichia, John Maximovici, Nectarios of Eghina, and honoring also those who fell in the communist prisons.
In the sermon at the end of the Divine Liturgy the hierarch said:
Today's Gospel urges us to confess. It is permeated by the sacrificial spirit that the Christian must have in order to resemble to Christ. All human life is put in the light of the deep connection with God. Without an explicit choice of God by man, the latter will build a spirit-free life based only on the passionate, bodily relationships. The choice of God transfigures the life of man in a paradisiacal sense.
In today's society, we see many unfitted things because of hatred, violence, and endless desire for domination. Like Christians, relying on the values of millennial history, we must firmly assume the veracity of our faith. Responsibility towards our future and towards society must help us overcome the difficulties we encounter at every step.
The confession assumed by faith help us to acquire the certainty by which the mind and the deed are cleared up in the choices made. It is the certainty that comes from the action of the Holy Spirit in those who have received the faith. Like the apostles, who acquire the certainty of Christ's dead and risen testimony for our salvation after receiving the Holy Spirit, we also get the same sense of certainty, clarity and courage to assume a confessing faith by the permanent work of the grace of the Holy Spirit over different generations.
Rev. Fr. Vasile Aileni thanked Canada's hierarch for presence and support. He also thanked the people involved in the administration and in the works of construction and improvement of the church.
The parish priest, the Parish Council and the Ladies Committee thanked all faithful, collaborators and donors for support and help.
