On Sunday, June 2, 2019, the faithful who came to pray at St. Nicholas Cathedral, located in the center of Bacău, had the joy of attending the Divine Liturgy celebrated by HG Bishop Ioan Casian, with the blessing of His Eminence Joachim, the Archbishop of Roman and Bacãu, and at the invitation of the Rev. Fr. Costică Busuioc - dean and parish priest of this Holy Altar, together with the Rev. Frs. Ciprian Olteanu and Eduard Cozma.
At the end of the service, in the homily pronounced, His Grace said:
The example of this Sunday about the healing of the man born blind shows us that man's understanding remains limited to the mysteries of God's work. The infirmity and the illness are not always direct consequences of sin. It can also be an element that tests and increases the faith of the one who receives the work of God's grace. The contemporaries of the blind man see the miracle but doubt. They continue to do this even when the parents of the blind man bring testimony in his favor.
Christ uses a material element - clay - to perform the miracle. He shows the will of God to make the matter, the world participate synergistically in the restoration of creation in its first beauty, in its original good standing. In the Divine Liturgy, the bread and wine, and in the Holies Sacraments the water, the Holy Chrism, the sanctified oil, etc. - are material elements that signify the symbolic but real work of God that is made in an unseen way.
Further, the roman hierarch of Canada thanked the ruling archbishop of the diocese for the love with which he is received each time in this eparchy, expressing also the joy of serving in this historical and emblematic church of Bacau.
