At the initiative of the AROLA Association of the Romanian Orthodox Metropolia of the Americas, the series of spring conferences took place in the Romanian Diocese of Canada, with the blessing of H.G. Bishop Ioan Casian.
For the Western Canada, the first conference took place in Edmonton, with participation and success already written in a previous article. On Sunday of St. Mary from Egypt, April 14, the conference of the Ladies' auxiliary committee was held in Vancouver (BC), at the Parish St. Hierarch Nicholas and St. Elijah the Prophet,
with the participation of ladies from St. George's New Westminster Parish and having guests members of the Holy Trinity Parish (OCA).
More than 30 people participated in the social hall that was divided into three sections:
The first section was the space for presentations and free discussions. The first presentation was delivered by Mrs. Mihaela Lăpuşte, priest’s wife, and seconded by Rev. Fr. Iosif Nicolae Lăpuşte, priest of the Holy Trinity Parish (OCA).
The second presentation was delivered by Mrs. Livia Liuţa, priest’s wife and doctor, seconded by Rev. Fr. Nicu Liuţa, the parish priest of St. George’s Parish - New Westminster.
Thematic questions and answers brought a spirit of sincerity, warmth and natural understanding of the attributions of mother, wife, faithful devotee but also as person dedicated to the profession and support of all those in need.
An uplifting moment was the artistic one offered by Mrs. Anica Florian, a talented believer from Cluj area, who elevated spiritually the audience with sings dedicated to Lord Jesus Christ, Holy Virgin, Holy Spirit, St. Mary of Egypt in the Romanian spirit that lasts over centuries and continents.
Prior to go to the art and skill section, the ladies were invited by Mrs. Ligia Dragomir, priest-wife and by the ladies’ committee of St. Nicholas' Parish to serve various and rich dishes, sweets and prepared fruits.
The third section, entitled "the stones of the wilderness - gems of friendship" was dedicated to the making of stone mosaics, ornamental glass and filled with stones bearing the symbolic words: FAITH, LOVE, LOVE, FAMILY, JOY that they wanted to represent both the symbol of St. Mary of Egypt, the one who discovered among the stones of the wilderness the great honor of salvation, holiness and eternal happiness, as well as the symbolic representation of Christian mothers representing rocks and landmarks in the family, in church, in society, and the continuity of our faith and identity.
The presentations turned out to be much more beautiful and inspired, and will be finished and exposed after cement drying. It could not be otherwise, as it contributed to the series of impressions and travel stories presented by Mrs. Georgeta Cioara, about the visit to the Jordan wilderness, the St. Zosima Monastery at Jordain River and the beautiful poems of St. John the Romanian from Hozeva.
In consensus, those present offered and received flowers and gifts, and before going to their homes to prepare the Palm Sunday and those suitable for the Holy Easter, they promised to come to the next meetings of this kind and bring other friends.
