The Egg painting represents a tradition in the life of St. George`s and St. Andrei Saguna`s Sunday School form Windsor, On. During the Great Lent we are hosting an Egg Painting Workshop , a testimony of pascal traditions representing an element of the Romanians spiritual culture. Painted eggs are a unique element in Romanian culture, which stands testament to the piety and spirituality of the Romanian people.
As we are all aware the year 2019 was dedicated by Romanian Patriarchate in the honor of Romanian Village. We are asked to reflect on and discover our traditions and historical heritage , the cultural and spiritual characteristics of the authentic Romanian Village. Even being far away from our great and great grandparent`s village we are keeping the tradition. With a lot of love for authenticity and harmony , with faith, we share with our youngsters the art of egg painting and traditions.
Our students discover the significance of the eggs dyed in red that has profound connection to our Lord Jesus Christ Resurrection and the renewal and seed of life. We work together to use the egg painting tools “ chisita”- the wax pen , to discover the miraculous way of mixing colors and ancestral decorative models.
Without wi-fi around but fascinated by the art of hot wax drawings on the egg and the humble light of little candle , our students discover the story telling, the interactions free of electronics and verbal direct communication. And they build friendship and memories. At the end of Thursdays night for few minutes we talk about our faith values and tradition.
This Palm Sunday our student`s work will be presented in a small expo.
