Mihai Eminescu honored in Montreal
As every year, Mihai Eminescu was honored in Montreal on his birthday. Thus, on January 15, starting at 2:30 p.m., His Grace Ioan Casian, accompanied by Fr. Protosyncell Maxim Morariu, the ecclesiarch of the Episcopal Cathedral "Saint Great Martyr George and the Holy Martyrs Epictetus and Astion" in Saint-Hubert, Quebec, and a group of believers, performed the funeral service for the soul of the great poet at his statue in the city.
His Grace read a poem dedicated to the writer by His Grace Ioachim of Roman and Bacău and briefly evoked his legacy: "We find in Mihai Eminescu's work a special complexity, because, if we read carefully what he wrote, we find there both poetry and prose, but also a theological or philosophical text," He emphasized.
The service was followed by readings from his poems. Along with the Romanian Bishop of Canada, Father Maxim, Professors Dan and Dana Agrigoroae and Mr. Cristian Geagiu read too.
The event has already become a tradition in the Montreal area for many years. Year after year, His Grace performs the funeral service for the repose of Mihai Eminescu's soul. Glory to God for all!
