The event began on the eve with the celebration of the Vespers service with Litia, performed by the Most Reverend Father Ioan Casian, the first Romanian Orthodox Bishop of Canada. The next day, starting at 8:30 a.m., the Matins service took place, and starting at 10 a.m., the Holy Liturgy, under the lead of the Romanian hierarch. Along with him, served protos. The responses at strana were given by Deacon Valentin Boțu, Nun Ana and the young people of the community.
In the sermon, the hierarch spoke about the meaning of the celebration of Pentecost for the contemporary context:
"The Descent of the Holy Spirit represents the birth of the Church. At the same time, it is His Sanctifying presence that permanently renews her work through Grace", emphasized the hierarch.
Then followed the Vespers of kneeling service and a procession to toward the basement of the Episcopal Cathedral, where the community's future social hall is to be set up. Here, His Grace Ioan Casian blessed the works to be carried out and spoke to the people about the importance of a social hall and called for the support of the faithful:
"In the coming years, extensive works of upgrading will be carried out here, for which we ask you to support us, each of you with what you can. Such a hall will be an important place, where we will be able to host all the important events of our community. We want to set it up as it should and leave it as a legacy to the generations after us", said Bishop Ioan Casian.
Praised be God for all!
